Julius Kabue, 39, spoke to the press from his hospital bed where he narrated the details of his painful ordeal. He said he was on his way to his workplace at Kiranja Schools at around 6am on Friday when the animal descended on him.
Kabue added that he struggled with the animal, describing it as daring, while screaming for help. The neighbors soon rushed to his rescue but unfortunately, the animal had already made off with his private parts and fingers.
The mysterious animal also attacked two of the neighbours who came to his rescue. They also sustained minor injuries and were treated at the same facility before being discharged.
Area residents are now appealing to the Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) to send a team to secure the area. They say the area is prone to marauding animals and they need to prevent similar attacks in the future.
Cases of human-wildlife conflict in Kiandieri area have been on the rise in the last few months. Residents have reported multiple cases of attacks.
