Nakivubo Stadium Gets CAF And FIFA Certification, Sports Fanatics Over The Moon

Sports enthusiasts in Uganda are overly excited after Nakivubo stadium was declared suitable to hold top-tier football matches. This certification was granted by the global football governing body through its “FIFA Quality Programme for Football Turf.”

The certificate, which was granted on October 4, 2027, attests to the fact that Nurteks Hali San.ve Tic. A.S.’s DuoFilament Mono football grass system satisfies FIFA performance and quality requirements.

That’s one box cleared, but there are still a lot because Nakivubo needs to be accredited as having sufficient accessibility and security. This is in order to pass the test of hosting international competitions.

Rebuilding Nakivubo into a cutting-edge multipurpose sports complex is an ambitious project that the Ugandan government started in collaboration with Ham Enterprises.

Apparently, reconstructing the stadium is part of a bigger initiative to improve the nation’s sporting facilities. This aims to draw international tournaments and develop local athletes.

Modern amenities have been installed throughout the last three years of construction, including the FIFA-certified turf.

The FIFA recognition arrives at a critical juncture in Uganda’s efforts to establish itself as a regional center of sports.

Nakivubo Stadium is anticipated to host elite competitions. This includes international football tournaments, continental club matches, and perhaps national team training camps. This is because the new turf satisfies international standards.

The FIFA certification indicates that the recently certified Hamz Stadium/ Nakivubo Memorial has a seating capacity of 35,000. Additionally, the stadium is now fully equipped to host big sporting events.
