The central forest reserve is found in Galilaaya Sub-County, Kayunga District.
The Deputy Registrar of the Mukono High Court, Ms. Mary Ikit issued the interim order. It follows a complaint filed in court by Mr. Morgan Isingoma, a landlord claiming to possess a title deed for the Bajjo Central Reserve land.
‘’Pending the hearing of the main application inter-parties, the status quo should be maintained by NFA, its agents, employees, servants or any person acting under its directions or authority be and are hereby restrained from opening boundaries of the suit land comprised in FRV 25 Plots 3 and 4 Bugerere Block 160 at Katayigwa or any part thereof,’’ the interim order reads in part.
For an unspecified amount of money, Mr. Isingoma sold off two square miles of Bajjo Central Forest Reserve to Kiira Motors Corporation.
Kiira Motors plans to use the land to construct an automobile manufacturing company according to Ntenjeru North MP Mr. Amos Lugolobi.
However, when the NFA received information about the selling of part of the reserve, it moved to open boundaries of the reserve. This also prompted Mr. Isingoma to drag the authority to court.
He insists that he obtained a title for the two square mile plots in 2014 and therefore has a right to sell the land.
‘’All I want is NFA to vacate my land so that Kiira Motors can take possession of it,’’ Mr. Isingoma said.
Mr. Tom Rukundo, the NFA director of Natural Forests wondered how Isingoma obtained a title in a forest reserve. He concluded that the sale of the land in the reserve is illegal.
