Veteran local singer, Michael Mugwanya aka King Michael has revealed that no amount of money can ever make him rejoin the NRM. The Lido Lido singer revealed that he regrets the day he ever joined the NRM. This is because there was a lot of damage on his side.
He felt a lot of heat and it’s a decision he deeply regrets. Further, he recalled a concert he had.
Apparently, eighty percent of the revelers were putting on people power red berets. And whenever they came to the stage, each had a word of disappointment and called upon him to get back on track.
“Honestly there isn’t an amount of money that can get me back in the NRM. Not even a grader can push me back because what I felt there is unexplainable. Politics is really bad and divisive. I remember one day on my concert, 80% of the people were putting on red berets. Each of them that came to the stage to give me money asked me why I had sold out. They warned me that this was the last time I was getting their support,” said Michael.
It should be recalled that the singer was one of those who were at the heart of the NRM campaigns in the previous general elections. Alongside other musicians, they drummed support for President Museveni that eventually got him back to power.
However, social media users were not convinced by Michael’s comments. Many interpreted it as seeking sympathy since he has an upcoming concert. And this clashes with the Sheebah-Cindy battle.
They said that if he really regrets being in the NRM, he should take back the things he got from there.
