No School Fees Increment Without Strong Reason – Minister Muyingo

Apparently on ground, the Education system in Uganda is becoming more expensive almost every term that goes by. It is even absurd when some one completes school after spending much time and much school fees fails to land on a good job.

Worst of all, schools, private and public at large have over the years made it difficult for parents and sponsors basically by increasing school fees for kids almost every other term, yet most of the parents can’t sustain the requirements.

Among unnecessary requirements include development fees, a ream of paper each term, test fees, spades, wheelbarrows, and some schools even ask for oxygen cylinders.

However, according to Minister Muyingo, he warned schools, whether private or public, against increasing fees without clear reason and an authorized written document.

“No school, private or government, shall increase school fees for whatever reason without written authorization from the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education and/or Chief Administrative Officer/Town Clerk as the case may be,” Muyingo said.

This warning came after several complaints from parents who claim their children might sit home because of continuous school fees increments.
