NUP MP Hon Ronald Balimwezo Applauds President Museveni As Smart Man

It’s not everyday that you hear a leader from NUP party complimenting a leader from NRM. However, Nakawa East MP Ronald Balimwezo thinks President Yoweri Museveni is a smart man.

Balimwezo complimented President Museveni while appearing on the NBS Eagle show. His remarks came while addressing the corruption scourge in the country.

The MP said that despite Museveni being smart, he lacks the political will to fight corruption. He cited how recently some ministers were sleeping in parliament and others had cannulas on their arms as the President addressed the Karamoja iron sheets scandal.

“President Museveni is a smart person, but he doesn’t have the political will to fight corruption. When Museveni was talking about the iron sheets saga, most ministers were sleeping in Parliament, and many had cannulas.”

It should be recalled that Museveni recently revealed that he was launching a personal war against the corrupt, especially in the civil service. Citizens however are so tired of these promises that always yield nothing.

The IGG Beti Kaya recently said that Uganda loses about Shs 10 trillion yearly due to corruption. And yet the corrupt ones despite evident proof always go unpunished.

Hon Namugga Gorreth jumped in this debate. The Mawogola county south MP said that the racket of thieves is definitely stronger than the president. These have worked with him for so long and can’t be questioned when they err.

“The racket of thieves is stronger than the president. Most people near him have worked with him for a long time and can no longer be questioned.

To tackle corruption, President Museveni should prioritize streamlining the process for investors to meet with him and reduce the brokers,” Hon Namugga added.
