NWSC Explains The Sonde Water Reservoir “Explosion”

The National Water and Sewage Corporation (NWSC) has explained that no explosion happened at the Sonde Water reservoir.

The announcement comes after rounds on social media were made about an explosion at the Mukono District reservoir.

‘’There was no explosion at the Sonde water reservoir. The tank is intact,’’ said a statement from the corporation on Sunday.

On Sunday morning, an inlet pipe delivering water to the reservoir from Katosi Water Treatment Plant suffered a technical failure. This caused water to regrettably enter some houses and compounds near the reservoir.

The good news from the corporation though, the incident didn’t cause any injuries to anyone. It also said it is in touch with the people that this incident inconvenienced and will resolve any outstanding issues with them.

They also said that the tank and the pipeline are under the testing and defects liability period of the contract.

Technical teams from the contractor and NWSC are working to repair the inlet pipe and restore the water supply to the affected customers ASAP.

In addition to that, the corporation advised its customers served by the Sonde reservoir to store water and use it sparingly as the supply is restored.
