Kyazze termed it as a world class Festival. And instead of government bickering about it, it should instead bankroll it.
This is due to the fact that it has potential to rake in huge sums of income from different services. Kyazze pointed out visa fees, airport fees, airline tickets among others as ways the government can earn from it.
This is all before the private sector comes in to mint their own cash out of it. The Swangz Avenue boss proceeded to applaud Talent Africa and its CEO Ali Alibhai for the job well done.
According to Kyazze, this was not only a win for the creative industry but the nation as a whole.
“Nyege Nyege is a world class festival. Government should bankroll it and stop the bickering. There’s potential to bring 10,000 foreigners and that’s 1m usds in just visa fees. Every airline ticket pays airport fees, so government can directly make about $2m at just the airport.”
“This is all before private sector cashes in on accommodation and food. Congratulations @talentafrica @AlyAlibhai. Great event management. It’s not only a win for the creative industry, it’s a big one for the country. We should all celebrate it,” said Kyazze.
It should be recalled that the festival faced vehement opposition from legislators in Uganda. These even went ahead to ban it citing immorality ranging from drugs to sexual immorality.
However, an executive order delivered by the Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja canceled the order and allowed it to go on.
They said the ban even helped to promote the event the more as most revelers who came said that they only had about it after news of it being banned.
Meanwhile Police said the event was properly carried out and there were no cases of immorality as reported by the BBC.
