Pastor Yiga Augustine also known as ‘Abizaayo’ the founder and overseer of Revival Christian Church in Kasubi Kawala has been released on bail.
The Rubaga Grade One Magistate, Lumunye Tomothy released him on non-cash bond of 2 million shillings whilst each of his guarantors were bonded at UGX5 million.
The controversial pastor, who appeared in court via a video conferencing from Kitalya government prison, was imprisoned for spreading false information about coronavirus.
According to the court ruling, the two sureties were considered and the magistrate is satisfied that they have the potential to guarantee that the applicant when freed on bail will act in accordance with the bail terms and condition.
They are essential within the circumstances of this application.
Magistate Timothy decided to release pastor Yiga after the court received proof that the man of God is suffering from diabetes and undergoing treatment.
Mr Timothy instructed the man of God to comply with all the guidelines and measures in fighting against the spread of covid-19, according to reports from Monitor.
Pastor Yiga Augustine who has spent over one month in prison, was accused of doing an act likely to spread the deadly virus. He is facing charges for allegedly speaking false information and spreading dangerous propaganda regarding the coronavirus.
