Stolen cattle: In a display of unwavering commitment to protecting the livelihoods of the community, the joint efforts of the Ugandan Police and UPDF have resulted in a remarkable victory.

The targeted livestock belonged to Otim Amadeo of Gotapwou village in Abim district and the armed raiders ambushed unsuspecting herdsmen during grazing, prompting a swift response from the joint security forces of Awach Sub County

According to police reports, the unsuspecting herdsmen were out grazing the cattle when the armed raiders ambushed them, causing the herdsmen to flee for their lives.

The joint security forces of Awach Sub County were promptly notified and mobilized to respond to the incident.

“Our unit responded immediately and tracked the criminals to Lotuke hills. After a brief exchange of fire, the raiders ran in disarray, and all 37 stolen cattle were successfully recovered. Fortunately, no casualties were reported during the operation,” stated Mike Longole, the Karamoja Police spokesperson

Meanwhile the recovery of 37 stolen cattle in Abim not only serves as a testament to their dedication but also brings hope to the affected farmers and the wider community.
