The Airport anti-human trafficking police in conjunction with UAERA (Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agencies) carried out this operation.
The Airport police swang into action and offloaded the ladies at the last minute. They had apparently already taken to their seats in the plane.
As of 13th-Oct-2020, the ministry of gender hasn’t yet given a green light for external labour recruitment companies to start functioning.
The government of Uganda suspended Human labour export along with other activities in March. The government di this in an attempt to contain the spread of Covid-19.
UAERA has for so long urged Ugandans seeking jobs abroad to insist on licenses of the recruitment agency to avoid being trapped in rackets of human traffickers.
According to UAERA, trafficked labor are the most abused while working abroad. Their employers don’t pay them accordingly. Their employers also confiscate their travel documents in most cases.
UAERA urges recruitment companies to be vigilant. UAERA also urges recruiters to follow the labor ministry’s guidelines on recruitment and exportation of labor.
