A press release from Communications at State House was issued on Sunday indicating that during the 3 days of National mourning , all State flags will be lifted at halfway down.
President John Pombe Magufuli made a declaration of 3 days of National mourning beginning 10th August on Saturday. During that period, all National flags will fly halfway down, ‘statement reads.
The accident took place in Morogoro – Dar es Salam Highway which is a major route for cargo transportation from the port of Tanzania’s commercial capital, Dar.
The video from the site showed the fuel truck submerged in violent flames and huge clouds of dark smoke with bodies which were burnt beyond recognition lying on the ground.
On Sunday, the death toll rose to sixty four and over seventy are suffering with injured.
The State minister in Prime Minister’s office Madam Mhagama Jenista said the government will compensate and take care of all those who were affected by the tragedy.
