The country has just reopened but even with this, the Ministry of Health advices people to be vigilant. According to their predictions, they expect the third wave to start around the end of August.
Apparently, the country was only opened to prepare for the third wave.
“The lockdown has been lifted so we can prepare for the 3rd wave. Please train more health workers, fix the oxygen crisis, import Vaccines, buy more beds. Ugandans ;- don’t wait for Nabbanja, save some ka money because it is a fact that the 3rd wave is coming.”
Reading through that statement, one could say the government opened to later close. However, people didn’t really love this post because they are apparently tired of this open and close business.
Some have blamed the Ministry of health for being corrupt which has made this fight impossible.
“Until our MoH & gov’t stops stealing, we shall never fight Covid. We’re only depending on donated, abolished & few vaccines from the whites. Expensive testing, no vaccines means children won’t study for at least 5 years,” a one Mathius tweeted.
Regardless of all this, the public just needs to stay vigilant. Already, reports coming from Kampala show that people are sluggish in adhering to SOPs.
If things stay this way, the third wave may even hit before its predicted time.
