However, the most important thing is that he won the elections. He said this while having a conversation with CNN’s Christian Amanpour.
“I have won the elections, that is what is important… Unfortunately, President Kenyatta has not seen it fit to congratulate me but I think that’s fine. Maybe he is a bit disillusioned, or maybe he is unhappy that I defeated his candidate. But that is the nature of politics.”
However, Ruto and Kenyatta have apparently had a conversation over the phone to see how the transition is going to be handled.
It should be noted though that Uhuru was undeniably behind Raila Odinga. Unfortunately, he was not able to win these elections and yet this must have been the last attempt for him to be president.
Whatever the case might be, William Ruto is the 5th president of Kenya and preparations are underway for his swearing-in ceremony.
Till now, Ruto’s win is still a mystery to many because of his humble background. The former street chicken seller is now an inspiration to young people who are still hustling.
They know that one day they will make it just as Ruto did.
