He went ahead to say that this will be mandatory. Museveni also commended the good work the Civil Aviation Authority and the Army Brigade at the Airport are doing.
“I am pleased to commission the Entebbe International Airport COVID-19 laboratories. These will be used as government testing facilities (mandatory) for all incoming passengers through our airport. I commend the good work by @UgandaCAA and the Army Brigade,” President Museveni said.
Gen Museveni instructed the personnel at the airport to start the testing right away and not sleep on their jobs.
“These people told me they needed a few days to construct a canopy as well, I have no problem with it, but I asked them to start the process of testing that very moment. The rest can come while testing is going on,” Gen Museveni added.
Uganda is one of the countries that has been putting up stringent measures in the region.
Whereas other countries such as Tanzania, Rwanda, Kenya have loosened up some of their lockdown measures, Uganda is still upholding them.
There is hope however that if the country can manage to vaccinate at least 4.8 million people by January 2022, they will fully reopen the economy.
Meanwhile, more vaccines arrived in the country earlier this week.
Furthermore, the Ministry of Health spokesperson Emmanuel Ainebyona revealed this information.
