President Museveni has revealed that delegates for the upcoming Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) have rejected the mandatory COVID-19 testing for the upcoming summit.
The President added that after consultations with some of the NAM stakeholders, some of the members don’t want their DNA’s exposed. Therefore, other COVID-19 SOP’s will be observed but not the mandatory testing.
“During the NAM summit, we shall not do the compulsory corona testing. Why? It is because, after consultations with some of NAM stakeholders, we found that some of the NAM delegates do not want their DNA exposed.”
Apparently the NAM summit will take place in Kampala, Uganda in January 2024. The motto of the summit will be “Deepening Cooperation for Shared Global Affluence.”
Several nations formed NAM in 1961 in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. This was at the height of the cold war era between the East and west (communism Vs Capitalism). The aim of NAM was to neutralize the threat of the two blocs and consisted of countries that had no side in the conflict.
After the UN, the NAM is the biggest grouping of countries worldwide. It consists of 120 States and the surprising fact about it is that Palestine, a non UN member is a member in the NAM.
Meanwhile this comes after the President revealed that his wife, the first lady, Janet Kataha Museveni tested positive for COVID-19.
Museveni who couldn’t believe how he survived contracting the disease said that she’s currently self isolating in their upcountry home in Rwakitura.
