President Museveni’s Convoy Under Fire For Knocking Pedestrians

President Museveni’s convoy has come under fire for reportedly knocking pedestrians along the Northern Bypass yesterday.

It’s said that the President’s convoy knocked a boda boda cyclist who was carrying two passengers. This accident happened along the Northern Bypass.

This was at Masanafu roundabout on the flyover towards Busega. Wounded bodies of the victims could be seen scattered all over the road.

“In this video they speak of the President’s convoy knocking Ugandans. I’ve spoken severally about caution on our roads. How many more Ugandans are we going to lose to VVIP convoys? Say what you will but these people have relatives! They could have been saved! It may end badly.”

This has had different opinions flying in. Many criticized the President’s soldiers’ inhumane behavior. They say that it’s not the first time this convoy’s inhabitants exude such a level of impunity.

However, others wondered how this was possible. This is because the road is always cleared moments before the President’s convoy pass by. It’s however said that this boda boda cyclist refused to give way to the convoy.

An official statement from the UPDF’s Special Forces Command however divulged that this cyclist swerved into the road accidentally.

“The accident happened when the rider of a motorcycle Reg number UFM 260F swerved to avoid hitting a stationary vehicle, hit the rear side and as a result fell off the bike into the middle of the road with the two passengers. In the process, some of the convoy vehicles swerved to avoid hitting them,” the statement partly read.

The statement further added that it was only three people involved in the accident. These were three adults, two males and one female. All three by the time of the statement were admitted to a hospital.

The statement further said that as the force, they are monitoring the injured and have also notified their next of kin. They however urged all motorists to take extra caution while on roads.

Social media users were again still quick to trash this statement. They said that security forces in Uganda can ever speak the truth and more so pin their boss, Museveni.

It’s said that the witnesses said that it was the President’s convoy that knocked them. The ‘facts’ therefore contained in the statement released by UPDF are botched up. This convoy has over the years come under fire because of the commotion it always brings on the road while traveling.
