Security officers in Koboko District have apprehended 3 prison warders attached to Lobule Government Prison over three missing guns and ninety rounds of ammunition.
The suspects including Corporal Zakayo Zebedee, Corporal Chief 3 Khan and Corporal Atiku Johnson were on Thursday arrested by a team of security officers led by Koboko District Police Commander Abwang Samuel.
According to West Nile detectives, one of the guns which were signed by Corporal Johnson earlier this year has never been returned whereas the remaining two guns (all AK-47) are missing from Armory, which was supervised by Corporal Zebedee.
The Koboko District Police Commander Abwang Samuel, said two of the guns belonged to Prisons whilst one was a property of Uganda Police.
The investigation reports established that there was no sign of a break in concluding that the 3 prison warders must be knowing where the guns disappeared to and are held responsible.
West Nile Regional Prisons Commander Bamutura Jolly Robert however denied the version of police and revealed that unknown people must have broke into the Prisons Armory and stole the firearms.
