Masses of people turned up for the event sponsored by telecommunications company Airtel Uganda.
The king Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II was there to flag off the race. A couple of photos of the Kabaka were taken and uploaded on social media. Some people were quick to notice the position in which the ring on his finger was placed. This ring which resembled a marriage finger was worn on his little finger.
This was interpreted as a wedding ring placed on the wrong finger and they quickly started insinuating.
“Nze abadde abuuza KABAKA empeta nga ajambadde mu ka naswi…..is everything fine?'” loosely translated for “I was asking why the Kabaka is wearing the ring on his little finger. Is everything fine,” one social media wondered.
This all comes on the back of rumors of his marriage to the Nnabagerekka being shaky. The Nnabagerekka, Sylvia Nagginda recently also released her autobiography which raised quite some dust. This is after she revealed that she and the king have twins.
However, a kingdom statement denied having any knowledge of the said twins. The Nnabagerekka was also absent last week at Lubiri during his birthday celebrations. This further gave these rumors some water to germinate. Luckily the Nnabagerekka was present this time and looked adorable with the hubby.
Well for the ring, it’s said that it is not a wedding ring. It is one which binds the Kabaka with people of Buganda and the kingdom. It was given to him during his coronation to become the king at Naggalabi Buddo Coronation Site in 1993.
