Although the Portuguese coach, Da Costa recently won the league title for the club, he was fired after spending one year and 5 months as the head coach for Vipers SC, according to Nile Post.
During the presentation ceremony, the Club president, Lawrence Mulindwa said that Vipers didn’t achieve much as they expected, it’s an expensive venture to change the Coach, as they needed a Coach who teaches and adds value to the footballers.
One of our top most dreams is to sell football players to Europe, to see them prosper and to make sure our football players are being presented to the National team,’’said Lawrence.
Despite winning Uganda Premier League, Da Costa lost the Uganda Cup to KCCA Football Club and had a tragic CECAFA cup struggle, which prompted Vipers to fire him immediately.
While speaking to the reporters on Monday, Lawrence Mulindwa said Vipers is meant to become the top club in the country as their 5 year strategic plan, however this is still in the pipeline. He added that the recruitment of Javier Martinez would make their dream come true
