Richard Todwong Affirms: No Extension For Register Update

In a recent statement,  the National Resistance Movement (NRM) secretary general, Richard Todwong, has categorically stated that there will be no extension granted for the register update process.

The decision comes amidst growing speculation and calls for an extended period to allow more individuals to participate.

Todwong’s firm stance on the matter has left little room for ambiguity. The anticipated extension, which some individuals and groups had been advocating for, will not materialize according to his announcement.

This declaration has undoubtedly disappointed those who were hoping for more time to ensure their inclusion in the updated register.

He added that those that never registered, time will come where they will be registered.

“An extension would disorganise our planning, and so we are encouraging the members that even those who have not been able to register, time will come when we shall register them,” he said

The register update process has been a subject of significant debate and discussion in recent times. While some argue that extending the registration period would enable a broader representation of the population, others contend that it could lead to potential logistical challenges and delays.

Todwong’s decision appears to align with the latter perspective, prioritizing efficiency and adhering to the initially set timeline.

Critics of Todwong’s decision argue that the absence of an extension may disenfranchise certain segments of the population, particularly those facing difficulties in accessing registration centers due to geographic or logistical constraints.

They contend that a limited time-frame could hinder their ability to exercise their democratic rights fully.

Meanwhile supporters of the decision, on the other hand, highlight the importance of maintaining a structured and well-defined registration process.

They argue that sticking to the original timeline ensures that the integrity of the register is upheld, minimizing the potential for irregularities and inaccuracies.

Todwong’s announcement has sparked mixed reactions from various stakeholders, with proponents and opponents of the decision engaging in passionate debates.

The discussion surrounding the register update process is likely to persist as the deadline draws near, with both sides presenting their arguments and advocating for their respective positions.

Richard Todwong ‘s recent statement leaves no room for doubt: there will be no extension granted for the register update process.

While proponents of an extended period may express disappointment, proponents of adhering to the original timeline emphasize the importance of maintaining a structured and efficient registration process.

As discussions unfold, the final outcome will undoubtedly shape the composition and inclusivity of the updated register.
