In their new terms, the company stated that they will not be held liable for any damages and that they will have no obligation to intervene in any way in disputes that may arise between drivers, riders, or third parties.
The co-founder and Director of Safeboda Ricky Thomson said many people did not read the entire new terms. However, he gave an assurance that they will do everything possible to improve their operations.
He has encouraged all customers to give them feedback whenever they are faced with any hardships when using the app.
“ I want to reassure you that we have listened to your feedback. And we shall improve on these terms and conditions so that we can make it much more friendly. So that you can enjoy and be comfortable.” Mr. Thompson said while appearing a morning show at NTV on Monday, February 8th.
These new terms of service had made safe go against everything their name represented. Safety was one of the reasons why many people used the app, however, their changes left their clients in the hands of random riders without any guarantee of any safety.
Either way, let’s see how far this will go. Safe Boda recently closed its operations in Kenya. If this unsafe practice is not done away with, we just might be counting weeks.
