Security operatives on Wednesday morning raided a sister to Winnie Byanyima, Ms Edith Byanyima’s home in Muyenga, a Kampala suburb where a search was conducted for about four hours.

Her lawyers told reporters that police officers led by Detective Assistant Superintendent Godfrey Kutesa, confiscated 24 red napkins found in her home.

Ms Byanyima’s lawyers also told journalists that she has been using the napkins as materials to teach some girls how to knit.
Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, who doubles as Ms Byanyima’s lawyer told journalists that police accused her of being in possession of ‘illegal material’ before they confiscated the napkins
“These are just cowards. How can you say that having red napkins is illegal?” Mr Lukwago questioned.
Well, After the search, security detectives had both to say to journalists.
Mr Francis Bwengye, another lawyer of Byanyima said the detectives didn’t have a search warrant and therefore, his client declined to sign a document the officers presented to her.
When contacted on phone, Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Mr Luke Owoyesigyire said he was still at another event and would get back to this reporter when the event was done.
Edith is a sister to famous Byanyima who’s the CEO of oxfam and wife to longtime opposition leader Dr Kizza Besigye of forum for democratic change (FDC).
