Security Denies Any Knowledge Of NUP Torture Victim Mwesigwa Eric

Security forces through the UPDF spokesperson Brigadier Felix Kulaigye, has denied any knowledge about NUP torture victim, Mwesigwa Eric. It should be recalled that Mwesigwa disappeared a while ago. NUP launched a search to find him not until recently. Mwesigwa was however dropped by anonymous people with grave torture marks all over his body.

Two wounds he said were inflicted upon him by a flat iron can be seen across his chest. According to him, the people who kidnapped him queried him about Bobi Wine’s plots to overthrow the government. Whenever he heard no answer, torturing instruments would be applied to his body.

As fury, condemnation and anger goes ahead throughout the public, security has ever seeing him. The defense spokesperson said that after a thorough check, it was established that Mwesigwa Eric wasn’t under any security agency. They, therefore, advised him to visit the Uganda Human Rights Commission (UHRC). This together with the Police will launch thorough investigations.

“Having done a thorough check on all security agencies, it has been established that a one Mwesigwa Eric was not in the hands of any security agency. We advise him to go to the UHRC and report. Or the police so that we can commence an intensive investigation,” the statement on social media read.

However, NUP has already come out to trash this statement from the UPDF spokesperson. NUP secretary General David Lewis Rubongoya said that this is a typical lie as expected. He cited how Bobi Wine a few years ago was accused of having guns in his hotel room in Arua.

Rubongoya listed several more incidents and said that nothing therefore they issue can be believed. Despite President Museveni saying that torture is illegal in Uganda, it has continued.
