Security Guard Shoots Dead UPDF Soldier In Kampala Bar, Mob Linches Him

Police in Kampala are investigating circumstances under which a UPDF soldier and a private security guard were killed following a fight in a bar.

According to the Kampala Metropolitan deputy police spokesperson, Luke Owoyesigyire, the incident happened on Saturday when Huron Otim, a private security guard picked up a fight with UPDF soldiers at a bar.

During the heat of the fight, the private security guard left the bar and went to pick his gun.

“On return, Otim fought with a UPDF officer Moses Mubangizi but Otim was disarmed and the gun given to another security guard, Simon Wana,” Owoyesigyire said.

“Otim then attacked Wana, took the gun back and returned to the bar where he shot and killed Mubangizi. The mob then beat Otim to death.”

“Wana has been arrested and is being held at Katwe police division for further investigations. The public is asked to inform the police promptly of any incidents involving private security guards.”

Owoyesigyire said police responded to the scene where they recovered the killer gun and a bullet. However, the magazine was missing as the two bodies were taken to KCCA city mortuary for postmortem.
