Yesterday both the Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) met this commission separately.
While addressing it, Sheebah said that they want a mechanism put in place to help musicians earn from their craft. She pointed out how musicians are made to work for their entire lifetime and retire with nothing.
The only way for them to keep earning is through stage performances. However, as humans, they also get tired but sadly they can’t take a day off. It’s why many musicians resort to drugs and other bad lifestyle choices out of frustration.
The self-styled queen Karna also added that she would love to one day start up a family. But this isn’t possible because she has to be on stage performing.
All this is because they have not been assisted in the industry. They don’t have an office in the authorities where they can report when they have been wronged.
Apparently, the singer pointed out how she was made to sign a bad contract at the age of 23. When she was given this contract, she didn’t bother to read through it because she trusted the person.
She only realized years later when the damage had already been done. It should be noted that the singer claims to be 33 years old now.
She started working with Jeff Kiwa in 2013 under the Team No Sleep label. The person she was referring to is definitely Jeff as they later fell out so badly.
