This was on issues to do with accountability and corruption. She was however later released on bail and surely the public stood with her.
Apparently netball wasn’t taken seriously before she rose to power. During her tenure, the game has really blossomed.
Uganda currently ranks first or second in Africa interchanging the position with South Africa. Globally, the She Cranes are a regular in the top 10.
However, with government interference in the sport, the country missed the ongoing African Championship games. It was here that the majority of Ugandans sided with her. Meanwhile, a dig through her past has seen several people turn against her.
They say that she’s reaping from what she harnessed. Apparently, Sarah Kityo Babirye was a youth representative of the central region in the 10th Parliament.
Sources have it that she voted in favour of the infamous Togikwatako saga in 2017 that removed the presidential age limit. Besides, it’s also reported that she forged her age to contest for the youth MP.
“I spent the whole week making noise for Sarah Kityo only to learn that she allegedly forged a birth certificate to contest for Youth MP Central region. This is yet she was above the required age. She then later voted to remove the age limit from the Constitution.”
Meanwhile, Sarah Kityo has maintained that she’s still the president of the Uganda Netball Federation. This is because she was elected lawfully and not just appointed.
