He applauded them for their contribution towards aiding children to get a bright future.
Furthermore, made the remarks during a farewell luncheon for the outgoing members of the organization held at Kampala Serena Hotel on Monday.
He thanked the board for partnering with the government on programs that have enabled children to live in a desirable environment.
‘’The outgoing board has done a recommendable job that by the time they left SOS, they set an example for other organizations on how to deal with children,’’ Kibenge said.
He further said the track record of the outgoing national director Olive Lumonya is clean. This was right from when she still worked with NSSF.
Senait Gebreziabher, the regional international director for Eastern and Southern Africa thanked the board for dealing with the children.
Senait said looking after children in a home is not an easy job. She also thanked the supporting organizations as well, especially the Austrian Development Agency.
Lumonya who joined Uganda Civil Aviation Authority as Deputy Director-General said she had a good working relationship with the children.
And even though she has left the organization, she said it becomes so hard to rest. This is especially since dealing with children’s issues had become a commitment.
She also said the outgoing board of SOS Children’s Villages has left behind strong pillars. These will guide the institution going forward.
