Spice Diana Reveals Biggest Problem In Uganda’s Entertainment Industry

Musician Hajarah Namukwaya alias Spice Diana has come out to name the problem with Uganda’s music industry. This was shortly after her performance in Thailand a few days ago where she went ahead to have an extended vacation.

While holding a press conference upon her arrival, Spice Diana said that many Ugandan fans are disrespectful. She told of how she was treated as a real star that she is while in Thailand.

According to the Onsanula singer, many didn’t know her but the moment they got to know her, she became a favorite. She even started getting free goodies such as food.

Many people even after that started flocking her social media pages and following her. This however is quite the opposite in Uganda. Fans don’t want to respect their stars and feel that they are at the same level as them.

“My trip to Thailand was simply amazing as I even got to celebrate my birthday from there. I was the headlining act at the concert I performed in and it aimed at celebrating Africa. I met a number of artists from many countries such as Congo. They were all amazed to see me because not all artists in their countries can pull big crowds like in Uganda. Fans there support us a lot.”

“The Thai treated me as a real star. They didn’t know me but after knowing that I’m a singer they started even giving me free things like food. They treated me with respect unlike in Uganda where fans think you are at the same level with them and want to disrespect you,” the singer said.

It’s bizarre however that the same fans she criticized for disrespect are the ones she credited for flocking their concerts.

Spice Diana is not the first person to raise this issue of musicians wanting to be treated above the ordinary. A number of singers have raised this issue and among them was Swangz Avenue singer, Winnie Nwagi.

The Malaika singer was some time ago bounced from a club for failure to pay Shs 25,000 entry fee. Nwagi had wanted to enter the club with a swarm of her friends minus paying.

She took offense in being chased and recorded a social media post saying that celebrities should be accorded entitlements.
