Kira Municipality MP Hon Ibrahim Ssemujju Nganda has tasked the government to explain why the President of Gabon was made to trek an entire journey to Gulu.
It should be noted that the transitional President of Gabon H.E Gen Brice Oligui Nguema was in Uganda a few days ago on a two-day working trip.
Among the people he met was Gen Salim Saleh. However, it was Nguema who made the trip to Gulu to visit the former army General.
According to Ssemujju, he wants the Government to explain why an entire President of another nation was made to travel an entire journey simply to see Saleh.
Hon Ssemujju also wants to know who Gen Saleh is in the country. This is because the Government has a Vice President, Prime Minister, and a hierarchy on the side of the Executive.
Read his statement;
“I want to task the Government to explain why the President of an entire country was made to trek a journey of hundreds of kilometers to Gulu just to meet Gen Salim Saleh. I see this as antagonizing the relationship between the two nations. There is the Vice President, Prime Minister who could have hosted him. So who is Gen Saleh in this country? Is he the number two, number three or number four, we need to know,” said the MP.
However, the deputy Speaker of Parliament, Hon Thomas Tayebwa said that he knows a little bit about why Nguema went to visit the OWC boss.
According to Tayebwa, this was done at the Gabonese President’s request. He made it clear that the General is one of those people who inspire him. He would therefore like to meet him. There is no way the government was going to deny his request.
