Start By Arresting The Late Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s Father – Bobi Wine To President Museveni

The National Unity Platform (NUP) leader Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu aka Bobi Wine has said that President Museveni should start by arresting the late speaker Hon Jacob Oulanyah’s father if he doesn’t want speculation about the deceased Omoro County MP’s death.

Nathan Okori, the late Speaker’s father a few days ago alleged that his son didn’t die from natural causes. While speaking to Daily Monitor, Okori said that they had poisoned his son.

However, according to President Museveni, some people are taking advantage of this situation to play politics.

Museveni added that Oulanyah died in a reputable hospital. Therefore, there is no way as to why such talk should even be making headlines.

He went ahead to say that the Police will start looking for those spreading such baseless allegations.

“I have heard some people say Oulanyah was killed, they are taking advantage of problems to play politics. The police should look for you.

Oulanyah died in a reputable hospital, for someone who is educated to go and say he was killed, NO. We can not mourn with this indiscipline,” Museveni said.

However, Bobi Wine said that as usual, Museveni without shame has closed the investigation. He added that no security officers will investigate. They will instead hunt for those calling for investigations.

Bobi Wine said that the first person to allege poisoning was the late Speaker’s father.

This means that there is a strong case to investigate since Oulanyah could have confided in his father.

The former Kyadondo east legislator added that in a functioning state, they would investigate such cases transparently.

In Uganda however, it’s the opposite as authorities intimidate people. Bobi Wine further said that whenever Museveni does this, it leaves citizens wondering what he’s trying to cover up.

“In a functioning state, allegations of this nature would be investigated in a transparent manner, instead of intimidating the nation into silence. Every attempt to silence citizens on possible murders only leaves them asking what you’re trying to cover up!”

While appearing on NBS Frontline, Chris Baryomunsi the Minister for information refuted the poisoning rumors.

He revealed that Oulanyah died from cancer. The Minister, Henry Okello Oryem corroborated his statement.

Oryem said that Oulanyah had been sick for quite a while but kept quiet about it. This is because he didn’t want to trouble people with his problems.
