Steve Gerald said,” this has been the difficult decision of my life, i am announcing now so that the whole team and the manager are not confused by speculation and stories about my future.
Liverpool FC has been a big part of my life and my family as well for a very long time since I was very young and saying goodbye is really difficult, however my decision is based on my wish to experience something different in my football career and in my life and when I retire from football I will not have regrets.
Steve Gerald joined Liverpool at the age of eight, he has made 695 appearances and scored 180 goals , winning 11 trophies and more importantly lifting the champion’s league in 2005
I will continue to play football but not playing for competitive club at this stage and not lining up against Liverpool, that’s what I would never consider.
I thank everyone at Liverpool including the club owners and Brendan for how they treated me when I came up with such a decision, I also thank the whole Liverpool staff and team-mates for all the help and support.
Hopefully one day I can probably return to serve Liverpool again in the best way that helps the club.
