The Ompalula singer was dragged behind bars by a one Ssentongo Jimmy on allegations of phone theft.
It’s however not the singer who stole the phone but rather his DJ. Ssentongo says that he picked the singer and took him to go and perform at his bar opening ceremony.
While performing, Phantom’s DJ asked for Ssentongo’s phone. He said that he wanted to record the singer’s performance for their social media activity.
After handing over the phone, Ssentongo went for a short call but on returning, the singer’s DJ was no where to be seen. Phantom couldn’t produce the phone and neither did he know the DJ’s whereabouts.
This forced Ssentongo to drag him to Nankulabye police station where he spent a night behind the coolers.
The DJ was forced to open a case against Phantom
“I booked Phantom Lovins to come and perform at my bar reopening together with his DJ. They arrived and his DJ told ours to live the booth and he started playing for Phantom. This DJ asked for my phone to record Phantom Lovins’ performance and I excused myself to a short call but on coming back, he had vanished.
I asked Phantom who I had already fully paid for my phone but he couldn’t produce it saying that the Dj also took his. I just dragged him to Police where he spent the night,” Ssentongo said.
While at Police Phantom claimed that he didn’t know the DJ that much. He had only met him two days ago looking for a job.
He decided to hire him as his official DJ. However, on being further questioned he started contradicting himself which forced the officers to throw him behind bars.
Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire confirmed the singer’s arrest. He however said that they were going to grant him bail.
