Semujju said the Museveni’s latest aggressive and unrelenting attack on the country’s land tenure system is causing unnecessary tension and insecurity. He said this while addressing the media at the party headquarters.
“He should forthwith stop politicizing land problems in the country. The content of his recent statement to the NRM leaders in which he attacked the mailo land tenure system and declared Buganda Land Board illegal, should be ignored because it is a recipe for violence and will drive the population into breaking the law,” he said.
Semujju says Museveni should be exemplary in resolving land-related conflicts. Apparently, he has eight villages in Gomba for his Kasozi ranch. Semujju Nganda emphasized the fact that Museveni didn’t have this kind of land 30 years ago.
He stated that since Museveni took over power, the population has since grown meaning. Obviously land has to become an issue either way.
“Museveni alone occupies eight villages in Gomba for his Kisozi ranch, miles of land he didn’t have 30 years ago. Museveni should act as an example of his land policy by subdividing his Kisozi and Rwakitura miles of land and distribute it to the landless,” said Ssemujju.
FDC says industrialization and growth of service and other sectors can partly resolve these land wrangles.
