Jackie Chandiru, a former artist from Blue3, has advised female artists to refrain from giving birth until they are financially stable. Despite spending over 15 years in the music industry, Jackie is yet to have any children. This is unlike her peers Lilian Mbabazi and Cindy Sanyu, who are both married and have multiple children.
During the time Jackie’s peers were having children, she was struggling with drug addiction and focusing on her personal recovery. Although she has been drug-free for over a year, she still feels financially unprepared to start a family. She believes that her lifestyle currently would not provide the best life for a child.
The singer also cautions fellow struggling female artists not to get pregnant as men can be unreliable and may abandon them and their children. Jackie adds that a mother never abandons her child.
“As a lady in the music industry, I advise fellow women in the industry not to give birth early. This is if they are not ready for the circumstances in case the man runs away and leaves you with the kid. One has to be financially stable to give birth. And if one isn’t ready they should not give birth,” she said.
It should be noted that Jackie had a worthwhile music career before drug abuse put a stop to everything. She has not been able to churn out a song in many years.
