City tycoon Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia is destined to receive special recognition from Ministry of Gender and International Labour Organisation for tireless efforts towards job creation, entrepreneurship and development of the country.
This will be at the inaugural entrepreneurs of Uganda awards ceremony slated to take place d on 8th December at Hotel Africana.
According to officials from the two institutions Sudhir is expected to receive overall Entrepreneur of Uganda Award, hospitality entrepreneur award and life time achievement award 2019.
Entrepreneurs of Uganda is an initiative of Elix Promotions Limited in partnership with Gender Ministry and International Labour Organisation to recognize great entrepreneurs this country has produced for their role in supplementing government role of job creation.
“Entrepreneurs are the engine of any economy.Through their enterprises, they create jobs, pay taxes and contribute to revenue generation hence development of the country,”Janat Mukwaya minister of gender said.
Sudhir who owns Kampala International school of Uganda, Speke Resort Munyonyo Hotel, Victoria University, Kampala parents schools, premier recruitment agency, Rose flower, Meera investments, crane management and other properties in the city is believed to be the richest man in East Africa according to 2018 Forbes magazine ranking.
The awards ceremony will be held under the theme: Entrepreneurship a catalyst for job creation.
Its estimated that 400,000 graduates join the job market annually however only 90, 000 are absorbed by government Ministries, departments and agencies despite of many government interventions like youth livelihood programme great number of youth can not find jobs and create one.
International monetary fund experts estimate that Uganda needs to create about 600,000 jobs if the issue of unemployment is to be tackled.
Due to lack of jobs, most youth have turned to external recruitment agencies for security, cleaners and drivers jobs in United Arab Emirates to make ends meet.
