Tanzania To Release Covid Guidelines After Being Hit By Third Wave

Tanzania has decided to release COVID guidelines after being hit by a third wave. The government has said it’s reviewing the guidelines to make sure citizens follow SOPs.

Starting with schools which are opening a few weeks from now. However, after the declaration of the third wave, 100 people have so far tested positive for covid.

Stakeholders of schools have advised the government to consider boarding schools as a mechanism. According to them, this would be a great move because it would curb the spread. Currently, the health ministry in collaboration with the President’s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government) and the Education ministry are working on the matter and would soon give a way forward.

“They will come to tell us how the trend is and  the government will issue a statement about Covid-19 vaccination,” said Mr Gerson Msigwa, chief government spokesperson, who also doubles as director of Information Services.

Meanwhile, the government has said they have been having guidelines. However, as they wait for the new ones, they will be living by the one available for now.

“We have the previous guideline and as we await a new one, the coronavirus has already hit the country. So, we must take control measures as early as possible.”

Tanzania has been the most reluctant country when it comes to covid guidelines. They even stopped producing the statistics in regard to covid and they just resumed of recent.
