Tayebwa Was Tense On His First Chairing, He wasn’t Prepared;- Salaamu Musumba

Former Vice President of FDC, Salaamu Musumba noted that the tension Thomas Tayebwa showed on the first chairing of the parliament as Deputy Speaker was because he was not prepared enough.

Yesterday, Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa made his maiden appearance in Parliament as he chaired his first session without Speaker Anita Among.

“I watched Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa chairing Parliament yesterday. He was tense. He wasn’t prepared for it,” she said while at NBS Morning Breeze.

However, since the two are new in these positions, she said they shouldn’t judge them yet.

“Whenever something is new, something changes. We have to watch what the new leadership at Parliament brings to the political plate. We don’t judge them before.”

Salaamu Musumba noted though, that it is up to the new speakers to set their own standard.

However, she says the coming generation is learning from the current leadership so they should be careful which standard they set.

“The responsibility is on them (Rt. Hon Anita Among and Rt. Hon. Thomas Tayebwa) to determine the kind of Speaker and Deputy Speaker they want to be. You build your own standards. The coming generation is learning from the current generation. If they learn bad things, they will implement bad things.”
