Tumwesigye’s body has not yet been found but he is believed to have drowned due to the flooded bridge. He lived in Migyera village in the sub-county of Nyarushanje.
Apparently, Kebisoni police station received information at 8:00am on November 23 about a possible drowning. The report said that the suspected victim could have been riding a motorcycle when the floods took him at Mineera bridge.
As soon as the police got this information, they moved straight to the scene of the accident to investigate and try to recover the body.
They immediately closed the road and recovered the motorcycle that belonged to the missing teacher. The search however is still ongoing and the police is still making inquiries.
Kebisoni Integrated Primary school head teacher Herbert Musasizi said Tumwesigye taught the upper classes science and mathematics.
“I spoke with him this morning and he told me he was bringing the marked papers and report forms for the pupils as we were preparing to close the term only to hear that he has drowned,” the head teacher said.
The police revealed that they are still searching for the body although the water levels are still too high making it hard.
