The Elegance Of Pocket Squares In Men’s Clothing

Pocket Squares: A Little History About Them: Pocket squares have always existed as a symbol of fashion since the time men’s fashion took hold in the early days of Australia. A sign of elegance and prominence, men’s pocket squares have always been a part of suits and other formal dresses. Pocket squares reached a height of fashion back in the days, but recently, it has seen an upsurge with many prominent models and actors wearing them on photo shoots and red carpets. These square pockets in many suits are more than just a place for a handkerchief, and they are, in fact, a symbol of charisma and prowess. Carefully placed squares will always blend in with the suit and add to its design if being nonchalant.

A traditional symbol for suits, pocket squares bring an antique touch to modern clothing. It was evident when Egyptians would wear pocket squares with their dress as a symbol of class and civilised dressing. Greece also has recordings of using pocket squares as a part of men’s fashion, with the record going all the way to French and European cultures. Since then, pocket squares still make a prominent mark in the men’s fashion industry to this day.

The Purpose Of Pocket Squares:

Ancient wealthy class citizens adorned pocket squares as a symbol of their wealth and status. It signified importance among the rich and the nobles with various colours and designs resembling the multiple classes and respect. Many such pockets were made from expensive raw materials which were not affordable by ordinary workers.

In the modern era, pockets squares adorn suits and jackets to show practicality and elegance. It also dramatically reflects the tone of the suit or the jacket.

Choosing Pocket Squares For Dresses:

  • A pocket square should not stand out from the rest of the suit. Instead, it should blend in and compliment the wearer of the suit.
  • A well-designed pocket square should engage the suit style with a colour matching the overall chrome of the suit or the jacket. An off-colour can be visually off-putting unless it blends with the rest of the dress.
  • Suits with patterns do very well with plain and solid coloured pocket squares with a well-placed handkerchief of a lighter colour.
  • Smoothness is also a factor here and should not look wrinkled and weary. A lot can speak about the way a man dresses and keeps his clothes fit.
  • Always experiment with different toes of design, colours and folds and understand how they care among various styles of suits. Experimentation is the best way to find that perfect design that will go well with a suit or jacket.
  • The application of men’s pocket squares is not a factor for the design but is worth considering. Besides placing a small handkerchief, men’s pocket squares resemble purpose and responsibility.

Ideally, a touch of elegance always benefited sophisticated styles in the modern fashion industry. A pocket square is the best way to implement that touch of elegance and splashes an old traditional indication into the contemporary design of the suit or the jacket. There is no other subtle way that can significantly enhance the visual appeal of a dress.

Many significant markets are taking up pocket squares and bringing back the old symbols of fashion once again. With Australia’s fashion market projected to reach a total value of about 9344 million dollars by 2025, it will be evident men’s pocket squares will undoubtedly be a symbol of fashion for many years to come.
