This followed an article in one of the dailies showing Kadaga’s take on the presidency. The minister of East African Affairs distanced herself from these reports quickly. She said she’s not eyeing the country’s top office in 2026.
She added that this is meant to create disharmony in the country.
“For the last one week, there has been circulation on social media fictitious posters of Rt Hon Kadaga as a candidate for President 2026. The same posters and allegations were posted on social media in May 2021. This is a matter that has been reported to the Uganda Communications Commission and the Security Agencies.
This is to clarify that the posters are fake and intended to cause disharmony in the country,” a statement from her Ministry read.
However Kyagulanyi relates this to the fear of her boss, Museveni’s nature. The NUP leader also said that most people fear the torture meted out on those who have attempted to eye Museveni’s seat.
“It is not that they fear Museveni’s seat for any other reason. They simply fear unexplained deaths, imprisonment, blackmail, torture, witch hunt, and all manner of persecution visited on those who have attempted to run for the highest office of the land,” the former Kyadondo east legislator said.
A few months ago former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda also distanced himself from the President’s seat. He also said that the social media reports that some circulated didn’t contain any bit of truth in them.
