Three People Die In Accident, Residents Steal Their Bags Of Rice

Police in Kalisizo are busy hunting for people that stole sacks of rice from a truck which overturned and killed three people on Tuesday evening.

The accident which took place at Jongoza Village in Kalisizo on Masaka –Mutukula road claimed the lives of three people on the spot.

According to the eye witnesses, the driver failed to control the over speeding truck which was loaded with dozens of rice bags. Three people who were travelling in the truck which lost control and went off road into a swamp, died on spot.

The dead were identified as Katumba Mohammed (driver), Kibuule Elias (resident of Kalisizo, Kyotera District ) and Kasawuli John ( a resident of Masaka District ).

After realizing that whoever was in the truck died instantly, some residents rushed to the scene and stole nearly 300 bags of rice,’said eye witness.

Police officers who rushed to the scene saved some bags of rice from being stolen.

We have launched investigations to make sure the rice is recovered,’said Mr Kangave Paul, the Police spokesperson.
