Three Reasons Why We Struggle To Get Rid Of Corruption

The Founder & Executive Chairman, Econet Group & Cassava Technologies | Co-Founder Higherlife Foundation Strive Masiyiwa recently shared an article on his Facebook page about corruption. He talked about the dangerous of corruption and how God hates it.

Some of the reasons why corruption should be curbed.

  1. Not enough of us are prepared to pay the price it will take to get rid of it.

As long as we fear the consequences, those who are corrupt will act with impunity, because they know that all we can do is complain like our fathers did, and their fathers.

  1. Some of us only consider corruption to be corruption when we are the victims. Before I was a victim, I only complained quietly.
  2. Some of us see it as someone else’s problem:

“If only we can elect politicians who are honest” is an excuse which we have used since the dawn of African independence. It takes away our personal responsibility to confront corruption on a daily basis.

If we call everything we don’t like corrupt, then we demean the real fight against corruption!

We cannot solve a problem that we cannot define properly.

If you believe [deeply, as many people do] that opportunity in life only comes ONCE, then you are already captive to corruption situations: If they ask you for a bribe, you will fret until you pay!
