The incident unfolded on Sunday around 3 p.m. on Lemusui Road in Akagunyo Village, Amudat Sub County when a group of unsuspecting cattle travelers, who were on their journey through the picturesque landscapes of Karamoja, were ambushed by a gang of armed assailants.
In a desperate bid for their lives, these individuals fought valiantly, but tragically, their efforts were in vain.
The robbers, driven by a callous disregard for human life, opened fire mercilessly, snuffing out the lives of four innocent souls. The once peaceful and harmonious atmosphere of Karamoja now hangs heavy with grief and anguish.
Police in Karamoja have kicked off a hunt for suspected armed robbers who shot and killed four people on a highway.
The victims were traveling in a Toyota Harrier
They are determined to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore a sense of security to the affected community. The loss of these lives serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for improved security measures in the region.
However according to police, the four victims, who have yet to be identified, were travelling in a Toyota Harrier with registration number UBP 601Q when they were shot by unknown assailants.
According to Mike Longole, the Mt Moroto police regional spokesperson, the four victims are from Mbale district in Eastern Uganda, but the motive for their attack has yet to be established.
“A team of detectives visited the scene together with a canine dog and established that all the four victims are from Mbale, but not arrests have been made so far,” he said
As the sun sets over the rolling hills of Karamoja, the echoes of this tragic event reverberate through the collective consciousness of its inhabitants.
The memory of these four courageous individuals, whose lives were abruptly cut short, will forever be etched in the hearts of their loved ones and the community.
