Prosecutors in New York could soon bring an indictment against the Trump Organization related to taxation of lucrative perks.
The company apparently gave those to top executives such as the use of apartments, cars, and school tuition.
They might not charge the 45th president directly charged, but the legal drama could bankrupt his company. This could happen through the damage that will happen to its relationships with banks and other business partners, as well as clouding his political comeback.
A lawyer for the Trump Organization, Ron Fischetti, held a virtual meeting with prosecutors last Thursday for about 90 minutes.
He aimed this meeting at dissuading them from pursuing criminal charges against the company.
‘’The charges are absolutely outrageous and unprecedented if indeed the charges are filed. This is just to get back at Donald Trump. We’re going to plead not guilty and we’ll make a motion to dismiss,’’ Fischetti said in an interview.
Fischetti and his colleagues had until Monday to make their final arguments against charges.
The long-running investigation by Cyrus Vance started in 2016 after Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen paid hush money to two women.
This happened ahead of the 2016 presidential women when these two women came out to say they had sexual encounters with Trump. Claims that he strongly denied.
