Ugandan  Government Borrows Shs58 Billion For URA Scanning Machines

The Ugandan government through Finance ministry has borrowed more than shs58 billion from Chinese government, the money will be used to purchase cargo scanning machines for Uganda Revenue Authority ( URA). According to Nile Post.

The buying of these scanning machines is connected with Museveni’s instructions which he included among the ten points on rebuilding security in the country.

The scanning machines will help the customs!

Due to lack of efficiency of the customs department, a number of illegal products such as guns are being smuggled into the country, scanning machines will help customs to end this act, president Museveni noted.

During the signing on the document to approve the Shs58 billion loan, Matia Kasaija, the current Finance minister said the scanning machines must help tax collectors to become more effective in collecting tax in a concentrated manner.

We shall get enough advanced technologies and modernized systems like CT scanners, x-rays as well as and centralized management system, said Finance minister.

Ugandan government was also given a grant of  589 million from Chinese government again. The donation will be used to support preparation feasibility studies which will notify the main project in Rubonyi-Tororo district where it will be located.

The money will be utilized to construct buildings like laboratories, classes and workshops which will be used to train experts in constructing and maintaining of the railway.
