From the fans, to the golfers, sponsors, organizers and hosts, the target for everyone is to have a perfect tournament right from onset.

With this year’s edition officially launched on Wednesday, Uganda Golf Club captain Joseph Bagabo gave assurance that the Kitante Golf course is ready to host the tournament.

“I want to give golfers and everyone assurance that Uganda Golf Club is ready to host the Open and we have almost everything ready,” he said.

“The fairways, the green and the bankers have been worked upon to make sure the golfers have a smooth event without any excuses,” Bagabo added.

Bagabo also believes they have acquired enough experience in maintaining the course and thus there should not be any worries that it will wear out after the three weeks.

“Last year, we had an expert from South Africa and he not only helped in reviving the course but also taught us on how to maintain it and we have been applying the same knowledge,” Bagabo noted.

About 500 golfers are expected to take part in this year’s tournament across the three categories of ladies, amateur and Professional.

The main sponsors Tusker Malt Lager have injected Shs500m with the cash prize improved from Shs 230m to Shs250m.

The 2017 Uganda golf open will run between September 7- 3o  at the Kitante Golf course.
