The conference will be organised by the African Regional Intellectual Property Organization (ARIPO), Uganda Registration Services Bureau (URSB), and the government of Uganda.
According URSB Registrar General Mercy Kanabwisho, the one week conference will take place from August 20th to 28th, at Speke Resort hotel Munyonyo, in Kampala.
“ARIPO with the support from URSB will hold the Diplomatic Conference for the Adoption of a Protocol on Voluntary Registration of Copyright and Related Rights from August 20th to 28th, 2021, in Uganda.
The Conference will bring together Ministers and delegates from our 20 Member States,” Kanabwisho told the media at Uganda Media Centre.
Foreign Affairs Minister Okello oryem expressed appreciation for Uganda hosting the conference.
“Uganda will be able to partner with the world to protect copy right works and Innovations. We are hopeful that this conference will also improve further as the country attracts future global tourism conference events, “he said.
In June Uganda hosted the World Health Summit in Kampala, Uganda from June 27-30 during covid lockdown.
