Oledo was impeached from his role after an extraordinary General Assembly yesterday. His membership was also suspended from the umbrella for the next 4 years.
Subsequently, Dr Edith Nakku Joloba who has been Oledo’s vice president was elected to serve the remaining period of the presidency.
“At an Extraordinary General Assembly this afternoon, members have voted to suspend Dr. Samuel Oledo from membership of U.M.A for the next 4 years They have also elected the Vice President Dr. Edith Nakku Joloba as the new President for the remaining term of office,” the Uganda Medical Association revealed.
Oledo’s troubles started a few weeks ago after prostration before President Museveni at Kololo Independence Grounds.
Oledo in the company of 50 other medical personnel thanked Museveni for the visionary leadership. He asked him to rerun in 2026. This caused outrage amongst the general public as they saw this as a form of political individual lobbying.
Since then, he’s been battling UMA and they decided to get rid of him. We are yet to see his final step as he a few days ago sued the organization.
