Uganda Musicians Association Gets Ugx 60M Grant From Government

Uganda Musicians Association (UMA) yesterday got a 60M shillings grant from the government through the National Cultural Forum.

While handing over the cheque for this money, comedian Hannington Bugingo said that the NCF is a lobbyist body between the government and the arts industry.

He added that this was however not a stimulus fund but rather just support to the organization. UMA president Cindy and the treasurer BigEye received the cheque.

While talking about this money, Cindy said they were so grateful for this help from the government.

She added that this shows that the government has finally recognized UMA as the body it wants to work with.

The singer also added that they will use this money to restructure their offices. Cindy further said that the Kampala office has been overwhelmed by large numbers of people from different regions.

However, they are now going to refurbish and have different offices in different locations.

“We want to thank the government for this grant and finally recognizing UMA. We shall use this money to open up and refurbish new offices in the different regions because the Kampala office has been overwhelmed.” Cindy said.

They asked the singer who is famous for skimpy dressing about her formal wear. Cindy said that she grew up as a woman and besides wasn’t going on stage to perform. Therefore there is no reason she would dress in skimpy outfits.

She also denied pregnancy rumours when they asked her whether she’s wearing long clothes to hide it.
